What your invoice should include
- Your business name, contact details and, if VAT-registered, your VAT number
- Your customer’s name and the job address
- A quote or invoice number and the date
- Each item of labour and materials, with quantity and price
- The total due, the payment due date and how to pay
Tips for painter invoices
- Quote preparation separately. It is the work customers do not see but always pay for.
- Name the paint brand and finish on the quote so the customer knows what they are getting.
- Agree on who moves the furniture before you start, and put it in writing.
Questions
Should painters quote per square metre or per room?
Per square metre is fairer on larger jobs. Per room is easier for customers to understand on smaller ones. This template works for either.
Should I include the paint cost in my quote?
Yes. Show it on its own line, so the customer can see what is labour and what is material.
Is this template free?
Yes. Edit it and create a PDF as often as you like. When you want to send quotes and invoices by email or WhatsApp and get paid online, VumaBill has a free plan.
